Understanding the intricacies of child support guidelines in Texas, Mark is here to help both custodial and non-custodial parents establish, modify, or enforce child support orders, ensuring that your children receive the financial support they deserve. As you may know, the Texas Attorney General’s office provides child support services to the custodial parent. It is important, however, to remember the A.G. does not represent either parent or your child. They are representing the state, much like a prosecutor in a criminal trial.
They also do not assist with custody matters. The A.G.’s office handles a lot of cases, and it can be quite a slow process. Their services are free, however.
Mark Land recognizes the joy and challenges involved in the adoption process. We
offer comprehensive assistance with stepparent adoptions, relative adoptions, and other types of adoption proceedings to help you build or expand your family.
If you or your loved ones have been victims of domestic violence, our firm
stands ready to provide immediate legal protection and support. We can assist with obtaining restraining orders and guiding you through the legal process to ensure your safety.
Texas law permits couples to enter into Prenuptial and Post-nuptial Agreements. They can be excellent tools, if used appropriately, to prevent or lessen future disputes. Prenuptial agreements are often used in an unfair way against the spouse who has less resources. The best way to achieve a fair result is to have Mark Land represent you in negotiating a fair agreement.
Perhaps, but it is a very bad idea. Many of the DIY Wills or online forms that I review are invalid or do not actually carry out what the Testator intended. It is just not worth the risk. Internet fill-in-the-blank Wills usually cause delays and extra costs after you die, even if they are valid. This causes great stress on your family and heirs, at a time that is already difficult.
A Will is a unique legal document. Texas law has very specific requirements about what a valid Will must contain and formalities that must be followed. If not, the Will is invalid and has no legal value. It is like dying without a Will at all. Only an attorney can legally draft a Will for another person.
An internet Will may seem like an inexpensive and safe option. However, my experience is that it can end up costing your estate many thousands of dollars and may result in someone getting your estate other than the person you intended. Choosing the wrong wording in your Will can be disastrous.
I strongly encourage you to choose a Texas attorney, with estate planning experience to draft your Will and other estate planning documents.
